
With the Navette Fluviale "Le Ville d'Avignon", an electric ferry, you can go for free on foot and by bike to the other side of the river Rhone. The island of Ile de la Barthelasse is called the green lung of Avignon. You can download a map using bicycle and hiking routes via the following link.

In Avignon you can rent bikes. Across the water you have a beautiful view of the imposing Avignon. Here you can relax and enjoy a self-made picnic. In Avignon you can buy a variety of delicious snacks and a good bottle of wine at the Les Halles indoor market in the morning.
The departure point is to the right of the Pont d'Avignon with your face towards the water. The departure times are (2017):

Seguret belongs to the "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France".
It is built against a hill with on top the ruin of an old castle. In the village itself you will find many beautiful old streets covered with bricks. There are several restaurants, a tea house and various studios. Seguret is also famous for its good wines.

Just outside the picturesque village of Roussillon lies "Le sentier des ocres". It is an impressive area where you can walk through the rich deposits (see photo, person at the top right in relation to the whole). It is a beautiful spectacle with red, orange and yellow tones created millions of years ago by oxidation. There is a choice of walks between 30 and 60 minutes. The park is open all year long from 9:30 to 18:30. Do not forget to visit the village itself where the natural oak shades are found in the houses. In the high season it is wise to be on time due to limited parking facilities.

This is a photo of the beautiful village of Gordes. It is one of the seven villages of Vaucluse which has earned the label of "Plus beaux villages de France". The other 6 villages are Séguret, Ansouis, Lourmarin, Roussilion, Ménerbes and Venasque. All within 1.5 hours of driving distance and thus suitable for a day trip with lunch and or picnic on the way...

Brantes is a village built steeply against a rocky wall. It can be reached via a slope road with beautiful views of the village. From the village it overlooks the steep side of the Mt Ventoux.
There is a small restaurant overlooking the top of the Mt Ventoux. It can be found in the corner of the little church. Just above Brantes you can enjoy tasty and affordable food at the Auberge. There are also several hiking possibilities from Brantes.
